The Basics of Septic Tank Pumping
HOMEBusy Bee Septic and Excavating LLC is a critical part of maintaining the health and function of a property’s septic system. The process removes accumulated solid waste and sludge from the tank, preventing blockages in drains, and keeping the septic system functioning optimally. It also helps to prevent septic tank failure, which can be costly. Regular pumpings can also help to prevent unpleasant odors from escaping the home and yard. This can make for a more pleasant living environment for the homeowner and the surrounding community, which can boost property value.
The Septic Tank Pumping Process
The first step in septic tank pumping is to locate the tank, which may be buried beneath the ground or behind a fence. Once the technician has located the tank and its access points, they can expose it to begin the pumping process. They then connect a large hose to a truck that functions like a vacuum cleaner. This hose is then inserted into the tank and begins sucking out water, solid waste, and sludge.
The solid waste stays at the bottom of the septic tank in a dense sludge, while the lighter waste, such as oils and grease, floats to the top of the water. These are then deposited into the drain field, where they disperse and are absorbed into the soil. After the septic tank is fully pumped, the septic tank’s lids and ports are closed, and a visual inspection of the tank and system is completed to ensure that there are no problems or concerns.
